Knowing what to expect weather wise when you go fishing can be tricky to predict. It's a problem a lot of anglers can probably relate too, even as we head into the summer months a freak change of weather can turn your plans for your fishing trip on its head. Thankfully though at Taskers Angling we have plenty of bivvy's available that should have you covered. We know though it can be hard to know what to buy which is why we put some tips together on how to get the one you need.
So firstly what is a busy. They are like traditional tents but are better for long sessions by the water, such as a weekend but they are also great for just one night as well. People who fish will often see a bivvy as a long term investment they can use over a period of time so if you are planning a trip away it is definitely worth getting one.
Now what to look out for when it comes for a bivvy. A lot of modern angling bivvy's are now quite high tech than they were when they first came out. It goes without saying that one of the first things you should make sure your bivvy is, is waterproof. You'll also want to make sure that your bivvy has a good level of breathability. Some bivvy's will come with ventilation systems that have windows and doors options that support mesh instead of PVC to allow extra air in your bivvy.
If you would be looking at using your bivvy in the winter then looking at density of fabric is quite important. A lot of bivvy's will have enough density to keep out the cold and the rain but it is always worth checking. Another thing we would recommend looking out for is to look for a flat-back structure. This will ensure that you can push your bed-chair back in your bivvy giving you maximum space for the storage of luggage and other essential kit.
There are things that you should look to see your bivvy includes when buying one. One of these is to see if it comes with groundsheet, these keep the damp from under the bivvy so you will have a mud free zone on a rainy day. You should also look to see if one comes with t-pegs, these are important in holding your bivvy in position. They are also good to have on sloping banks when you don't want to see your gear sloping towards the water. Finally it is also worth looking to see if one comes with carry bags, they give you a way of moving your gear to and from the bank. If you are going with a friend as well two-man ones are also available
Bivvy's on the surface can seem like a very expensive purchase. However if you want to get the most out of angling we would highly recommend investing in one that will serve you well for a long period of time. We stock our bivvy's from some of the best brands around as well such as sonik, fox and ridgemonkey.
