What to look for when buying a bedchair

Whilst on the bivvy you want to make sure you are as comfortable as possible. At Taskers Angling we understand this and want to make sure you are kitted out properly. Buying a good bedchair is somewhere anglers can start, there are plenty of options out there so it is important to know what to look for when you are thinking about purchasing one.

First of all it is important to look at what a bedchair is and what you will get out of it. Simply put it is an adjustable, foldable chair that can be flat-lined into an off-the floor bed. Instead of just using a sleeping bag anglers will buy a bedchair to ensure that they have a warm, comfortable rest when they are not fishing. Many will come with firm, padded mattresses that will make sure you can rest properly.

So what are the main things to look for in a fishing bedchair? A good place to start is looking at the frame and making sure it is durable and stable. Ensuring it is lightweight as well is important because it means it will be easier to transport. On the theme of sturdiness making sure the legs will be able to support you and your gear is something to consider. Some bedchairs will have six legs but others have eight so naturally these ones will be more sturdy. Making sure the legs are height adjustable is important as it ensures that you are not sleeping on an odd angle.

If you are buying a bedchair you are definitely going to want to make sure that the mattress is comfortable. Padding material material can vary from traditional foam right through to advanced memory foam. If you are someone who does the odd overnight session then a traditional mattress may be best for you. However if you will be spending more time by the water i.e. fishing in Europe then ensuring the mattress is advanced memory foam could be the one you get.

There are other features bedchairs can come with that you may find useful. These include swivel feet, a welly/boot section and whether or not it reclines. Make sure as well that your bedchair will fit into your bivvy as well. You won't want to make it out to the water to find out this isn't the case!
