Taskers Angling was first established in 1977 by it’s founder Jack Tasker. Jack was well known in and around Liverpool as a successful businessman having originally founded Taskers DIY in the 1950’s. When he retired from the DIY business, fishing was his hobby and like many an Angler he had always dreamed of owning a fishing tackle shop, and so ‘Taskers Tackle’ as it was originally called was born!

The first store was situated on County Road, in the Walton Area of Liverpool. Jack knew the area well as this was where he was born and brought up. He soon moved the store to larger premises a little further along the same road.

The next big change was in 1986 when the current owner, his son Peter, having joined the business a few years earlier, moved the business to much larger premises in Anfield. The new store at 14,000 sq feet was considered massive for a fishing tackle shop and so other sports were added.

Roll on 20 years and Peter, who was now joined by his Sons, Neil and Kris realized that the store was again too small for all that they wanted to do, and so the decision was taken to acquire new premises. The non fishing side of the business (football, cricket, boxing etc) was separated and moved to the new premises, go to www.taskers-sports.co.uk  whilst the fishing was hugely expanded and re-fitted within the existing Utting Avenue store to take up the full 14,000 sq feet of sales space, making it now one of the largest fishing tackle stores in the UK.

All this extra space has allowed us to install a Maver pole ally, bivvy village, incredibly impressive bait department and defined areas for all aspects of our sport - course, carp, sea, pike, pole and game.

One of our strengths has always been knowledge. ALL of our staff are fishermen who between them have over 100 years experience!! This gives us the breadth of knowledge to be able to advise both experienced and novice anglers alike.

Although fishing takes up the majority of space within the store, we do also offer a great range of Archery, Air guns, darts, snooker and trophies.
